Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On 6 May 2011, China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) officially handed over auxiliary facilities such as school walls and roads worth USD 100,000 to the Juba Primary School Construction Project. It is unclear when CNPC committed these funds. The Chinese Government provided a 8.6 million RMB grant to build the school in Juba (see Record ID#58811).

Staff comments

The Chinese Government originally agreed to finance this project in April 2009, before South Sudan gained independence in 2011. Therefore, it is unclear whether CNPC donated these funds to the Government of Sudan or the Government of South Sudan.
