Description
On March 24 2017, China Railway and the Government of Mali signed a commercial contract for the rehabilitation and asphalting of Kayes-Aourou-Mauritanian border road project. The total cost is 1.1028 billion RMB. The road is located in the Circle and Kayes Region. The total investment amount for the project is listed as 119,642,857 USD on the InvestMali webpage. In November 2017, during the 2nd session of the Joint Commission for Economic, Commercial and Technical Cooperation between the Republic of Mali and the People's Republic of China, discussions were held on the financing and implementation of the 162 km Kayes-Aourou road on the Mauritanian border. It is unclear if China Eximbank has committed to funding the project.
