Description

According to the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Aid Management Platform (AMP), the Chinese government pledged to fund the rehabilitation of Inga and Inga II power plants. No financing has been committed to the project as of May 2020. This project may be related to a 2010 announcement made by the DRC's utility company, Societe Nationale D'Electricite (SNEL) and the Bureau Central De Coordination (BCECO) where they invited bids for a turnkey contract for the rehabilitation of units G21 and G22 of the Inga 2A plant. The rehabilitation of this power plant was reportedly completed in 2018, but it is unclear who won the bid and who financed the rehabilitation. The French project title is Réhabilitation des groupes de Inga l et Inga ll.
