Description
In July 2019, the Chinese Embassy in South Africa announced that they would work with the China Foundation for Peace and Development and the Beijing Capital Agribusiness Group to implement a rural poverty alleviation demonstration project in Cornelia, Free State, South Africa (中南农村脱贫合作示范项目). The two parties aim to create a "cow raising and poverty alleviation" cooperation, and a "company + poor household" cooperative cow breeding model has been formed. The project aims to alleviate poverty among 100 households over five years. Beijing Capital Agribusiness Group will be one of the investors of the project. As of July 5, 2019, both countries have only gone through the preliminary planning stages of the project. No formal agreements have been made. The financing of the project is unknown.
