China grants RMB 6 million for Center for Women and Children Construction Project (Linked to #59165)

In 2002, the Chinese government agreed to grant RMB 5,992,882 (or DJF 127,800,007) for the construction of a library and computer room at the Djibouti Center for Women and Children (or Centre Mère et Enfant or 母子中心项目). According to a document from the Djibouti Ministry of Finance (source ID 70690), disbursements began in July 2003 and as of 2005, 100% of the grant funds had been drawn down. Construction began on 7 January 2003 and the handover ceremony marking project completion was held on 8 January 2004. This ceremony was chaired by the director of the center and was attended by Chinese officials including the Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing and Ambassador Guan Jindi of the Chinese Embassy in Djibouti.
