Description
In April 2017, the Director of the China’s Health Planning Commission signed an intergovernmental agreement with the Republic of Congo’s Minister of Health regarding the Sino-Congolese Ophthalmology Center Project. Then, in May 2018, the Tianjin Ophthalmology Hospital signed a counterpart assistance agreement with the Sino-Congolese Friendship Hospital (or Hôpital d'amitié sino-congolaise de M’Filou or l'Hôpital de base de Mfilou) regarding this project, which was supported by a grant worth RMB 5.5 million. This project involved the installation of an Ophthalmology Center at the Sino-Congolese Friendship Hospital (or Hôpital d'amitié sino-congolaise de M’Filou or l'Hôpital de base de Mfilou) in M’Filou, which is located in the 7th arrondissement of the capital city of Brazzaville. It involved, among other things, the training of local ophthalmologists. The center’s opening ceremony took place on December 12, 2018.
