Description

On 7 and 8 December 2011, the Chinese Ambassador and Djibouti Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation signed an exchange of letters for the Solar Street Light Project. The Chinese government financed this project with a grant of an unknown value. On 10 April 2012, ZTE Corporation signed the implementation contract of China-aided solar street lighting project in Djibouti. Work plans involved the installation of 300 solar power street lights in two areas of Djibouti City. The purpose of this project was to protect the personal and property safety of the Djiboutian people as well as provide support for their development of green energy. The official handover ceremony took place on 18 November 2013.
