Project narrative

In 2017, the Chinese Government pledged $5 million USD (Sh500 million) to support South Sudan and Somalia refugees in Kenya. The donation was provided to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) to purchase 9,000 tons of cereals (maize and sorghum) for the approximately 420,000 refugees living in the Dadaab and Kakuma camps in northern Kenya beginning on April 17, 2017. A hand-over certificate was signed on March 23, 2018, upon completion of the donation.
