Project narrative

In 2015, Chinese president Xi Jinping pledged to grant 1,000 new university scholarships for Kenyan students to study at Chinese universities over the following three years (umbrella Record ID#52535). China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) helped follow through with this pledge by implementing a railway studies scholarship program which aims sponsor a total of 100 Kenyan students. Beijing Jiaotong University hosted the students. The value of each scholarship is unknown. The first batch of 25 students left for China in 2016. At the end of February 2017, 35 Kenyan students under the second batch left for China (#85152)
