Description
On March 21, 2017, the Chinese Government and the Government of Egypt signed letters of exchange, committing grant funding for Phase II of a feasibility study for the second phase of the Egyptian Satellite project (EgyptSAT 2). The proceeds of this grant were used to finance a contract that China’s Ministry of Commerce issued to China Recruitment International Tendering Co. Ltd. and the China Academy of Space Technology (CAST) on November 2, 2016. The monetary value of this grant commitment is unknown. The purpose of the EgyptSat 2 Project is to create a remote sensing satellite for Egypt's National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space (NARSS) under the Egyptian Ministry of Science and Technology. Its feasibility study was likely completed since the Chinese Government eventually approved funding for the EgyptSat 2 Project (captured in Project ID#65871).
