Description
In 2017, the Government Gabon announced that China Eximbank would help it finance the construction of the 36MW FE2-Mitzic (or Fé 2) hydroelectric dam at two sequential waterfalls (“Chutes de FE2”) on the Okano river in Woleu-Ntem Province. This power is to be produced by three vertical axial Francis turbines, each rated at 12 MW. The purpose of this project is to supply power to the Woleu-Ntem province, Ndjolé and the capital city Libreville. It is part of a larger effort to create a Woleu-Ntem interconnected power network in northern Gabon. In 2010, the Government of Gabon awarded the project contract to the company called CODER and construction started. However, the Government Gabon terminated the contract in 2013 due to delays in implementation. Then, in 2014, the project contract was given to China Gezhouba Group Company (CGGC). It appears that this contract was also cancelled. In September 2018, Tebian Electric Apparatus Stock Ltd (TBEA) announced that it would “invest” 180 million euros in the project.
