Project narrative

On September 17, 2018 Ambassador Song Yumin of Trinidad and Tobago and Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh attended the ceremony for China's donation of medical supplies and witnessed the signing of the handover certificate by representatives of China. The donation takes place under a Memorandum of Understanding signed on May 14, 2018 aimed at strengthening cooperation in medicine/health. The supplies include neurosurgical and other specialized equipments and are valued at about TTD $1,022,000 according to a news release by the Trinidad and Tobago government. Through the MOU, a specialist medical team from the Beijing Tiantan Hospital (the leading neurosurgical medical institute in China) will perform much-needed neurosurgeries for locals. The first batch of doctors arrived on September 3, 2018 and began meeting with representatives at the various Regional Health Authorities (RHAs) to pave the way for the surgeries to begin. This is denoted in the linked project.
