Description
On September 18, 2018, China sent the 19th medical team to Uganda to take over from the 18th medical team. There were nine members on this medical team selected from The First People's Hospital of Qujing (曲靖市第一人民医院), the Second People's Hospital of Qujing, Qujing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine (曲靖市中医医院), and Qujing Medical College (曲靖医学高等专科学校) in Qujing, Yunnan Province. Outpatient visits reached 9,410 and 240 surgeries were performed. They began on September 30, 2018 and ended on October 14, 2019. During their tenure, they not only performed many surgeries, but also provided traditional Chinese medicine training to Ugandan doctors in China-Uganda Friendship Hospital. China has sent 19 batches of medical teams, totaling up to about 200 doctors, to Uganda since 1983. By 2018, the doctors had treated thousands of Ugandan patients and trained interns, as well as staff, at local hospitals.
