Project narrative

In November 2016, the Chinese government sent the 17th team of agricultural experts to Ethiopia to provide agricultural technology vocational education and training. The experts are part of a 2001 agreement between the Ministry of Agriculture of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to reform Ethiopia's agricultural technical and vocational training, with China providing instructors for practical training (Record ID#33865). According to the Economic and Commercial Counsellor's Office of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Ethiopia, a total of about 500 agricultural technicians, 1,800 local teachers and 35,000 students had received crop cultivation, animal health care, etc. under the guidance of Chinese experts by 2017. As of April 2017, 20 Chinese agricultural experts were providing training in Ethiopia. The 17th team was scheduled to spend a year teaching in Ethiopia.
