Description
On October 2, 2012, the Government of Gabon committed to facilitate a transition from analogue to terrestrial digital television. Then, on August 11, 2015, Startimes and the Government Gabon signed a commercial contract for the Migration from Analogue to Digital Terrestrial Television Project. In 2017, the Export-Import Bank of China reportedly agreed in principle to provide a loan worth $170 million to help finance this project. The proceeds from the loan would be used to facilitate the installation of 200 transmitters. This migration was scheduled to take place in two stages: 50 out of 74 localities would be covered in phase 1 (2016) and 24 localities would be covered in phase 2(2017-2018). However, it does not appear that this project ever came to fruition.
