Description

On July 5, 2019, the Chinese Ambassador to South Sudan and the South Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation signed an exchange of letters in which China pledged to provide material assistance to the National Pre-Transitional Committee (NPTC) of South Sudan. The supplies that China would donate included 3,000 metric tons of rice, 2,500 36 square meter tents, 50,000 blankets, and a batch of drugs. They would be used for the implementation of the Revitalised Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (R-ARCSS). The first batch of supplies, consisting of 1,500 tons of rice, was delivered on September 2, 2019. The handover ceremony of the second batch of supplies were held on October 26, 2020. The value of these supplies and when China handed over the rest of the supplies are unknown.
