On May 31, 2005, following heavy rainfall that damaged hundreds of homes in Zanzibar, members of the Chinese Consulate donated approximately $2000 to help support the disaster effort.

Important to note that this is due to heavy rain in April 2005, not the devastating hurricane in late 2004.
