Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

With assistance from the Chinese Government, Grenada built an Agricultural Experts Complex to upgrade their technology and improve the working conditions of local farmers. Shanxi No.4 Engineering and Construction Company started the construction in December 2016, and was expected to finish in October 2017. The handover ceremony was held on December 6, 2017 and attended by government officials, construction officials, and individuals invested in agriculture. The building will house activities such as research, seed and seedling cultivation, agricultural training and promotion, conferences, and office space.

Staff comments

1. This project is linked to Umbrella Record ID#54764. It ties into the wider Grenada Agricultural Technical Cooperation Project effort established from 2005 which aims to share agricultural technology and knowledge between China and Grenada. 2. Given that this project is described by official sources as 'China-aided', AidData assumes that it was funded through a MOFCOM grant or interest-free loan. The flow_class field is therefore set to ODA-Like because the project has development intent and grants and interest-free loans from MOFCOM always exceed the OECD concessionality threshold of 25%
