Project narrative

In July 2018, China sent the 16th medical team to Zimbabwe. During their year-long term, the medical team completed more than 300 operations and treated more than 7000 patients. Among these operations, the medical team visited Kariba, Kuiru, Mutare, and Harare orphanages in remote areas of Zimbabwe to provide free medical treatment for the local people. In 2018, the team also responded in a variety of ways to provide technical support and make positive contributions to the local government's final victory over cholera. On December 14, 2018, Chen Ning, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Zimbabwe, led the 16th team to the Huajin Cement Plant in Kulu, southwestern Zimbabwe, to provide medical examinations for company employees and local employees. During 2019, Hurricane "Idai" seriously affected the eastern province of Zimbabwe, so the medical team went deep into the disaster area and actively carried out epidemic prevention and disaster relief. The medical team finished its work on July 2, 2019.
