Project narrative

On June 20, 2019, the handover ceremony of materials for the Agricultural Technology Cooperation Project (Phase XIII) was held. The Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Zhang Xueqian, reportedly signed the Agricultural Technology Cooperation Project (Phase XIII) with the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of Sierra Leone, Amara Sheriff in Freetown. According to the exchange of letters on the 13th phase of the Agricultural Technology Cooperation Project, the Chinese side sent 8 technicians to Sierra Leone to carry out seeds breeding, agriculture technology promotion, and training on rice and maize cultivation, as well as provided a certain amount of agricultural materials. The materials handed over included Chinese hybrid rice seeds, maize seeds, and fertilizer. Ambassador Zhang stressed that China will continue to provide assistance to Sierra Leone as a sign of friendship. Agriculture officers of the Western Area, Bo and Kenema, experts of the Chinese agriculture team, and more than 100 local farmers attended the ceremony.
