Project narrative

On May 14, 2012, the Chinese Government and the Government of Sierra Leone signed an exchange of letters, which committed grant funding for the construction of two primary schools in Masingbi and Makeni communities within the Northern Province. The monetary value of this grant commitment is unknown. In March 2016, the Chinese Ambassador inspected the two schools. Then, in June 2017, at a ceremony in Masingbi Town, the Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Wu Peng, handed over the primary schools, according to the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone. Minkalu Bah, Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Samura Kamara, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Christiana Thorpe, First Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Abdulai Sesay, Member of Parliament for the 63rd Constituency, and Paramount Chief Bai Kuru Kanagbaro Sanka 111 of Konekay Chiefdom all attended the ceremony. According to the Chinese embassy website, Anhui Construction Engineering Group was the contractor responsible for implementation.
