Chinese Government provides RMB 300 million grant — via November 2018 ETCA — for Container Inspection Equipment Project

On November 9, 2018 the Chinese Government and the Government of Vanuatu signed an Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement (ETCA), which committed RMB 300 million of grant funding for the Container Inspection Equipment Project. The purpose of the project was to acquire and install x-ray scanners to enable Vanuatu’s Custom to conduct non-intrusive inspections of containers for prohibited and restricted goods. Static x-rays were to be provided for Port Vila and Luganville airports. An official equipment handover ceremony took place on June 4, 2020.
