Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On August 13, 2014, the Chinese Government granted RMB 20 million to Cambodia’s Ministry of Public Security (which is a sub-office located within Cambodia Ministry of Interior) for a Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) Surveillance Project. The CCTV and traffic control equipment was worth 20 Million Yuan (3 Million USD). This project installed CCTV cameras in Phnom Penh on August 14, 2019. The video feeds will be monitored from the national police headquarters and only officials from the national police will have access. According to the national police, this project is meant to help cut down on crime and traffic accidents ("China Gives $3M for City Surveillance System").
