Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

In early June 2015, the Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Zhao Yanbo, and Sierra Leone’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Samura Kamara, signed a grant agreement for the provision of a container inspection equipment and a remote monitoring system. The monetary value of this grant commitment is unknown. The purpose of this grant was to enhance the customs clearance and revenue collection capabilities of Sierra Leone’s National Revenue Authority (NRA). Nuctech Co., Ltd. was the contractor responsible for implementation. The container inspection equipment arrived in Sierra Leone in September 2015. Also, through this project, Sierra Leonean customs staff were trained at the Customs Administration Academy in China on how to operate container scanners and analyze images. Nuctech Co., Ltd. installed the donated container inspection equipment at the Gbalamuya Customs Post. On January 19, 2017, a project handover ceremony was held.
