Project narrative

At the first Ministerial Conference of China-Pacific Island Countries Economic and Development Cooperation Forum held in Fiji in 2006, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao pledged to train 2,000 government officials in the Pacific Islands. In 2012, the Chinese Government granted $752,000 USD for a Human Resource Training Project in Papua New Guinea. The purpose of this project is to fulfill the request made through Note no. 16/08 from the Embassy of the People's Republic of China's Commitment; and to build capacity through China's pledged training of 2,000 government officials and technical personnel from the Pacific Island countries. According to the Lowly Institute, the first transaction for the grant occurred in 2012 and the last occurred in 2015. Numbered 66924 and 66925 on Lowy Excel sheet
