Project narrative

In 2014, the Chinese government granted scholarships to 30 Sierra Leonean students for them to study in China. On September 2, 2014, the Chinese embassy in Sierra Leone, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Ministry of Technical and Higher Education held a farewell reception for these student who were awarded Chinese government scholarships. The responsible ministers, Samura Kamara, Dr. Minkailu Bah, were present at the reception. Due to the suspension of all flights to Sierra Leone, the Chinese government booked a flight that travelled to China from Conakry, Guinea. To facilitate their trips, the Chinese embassy chartered a bus to send them to Conakry International Airport on September 3. The students arrived in Beijing on September 5, and they will major in such subjects as agriculture, medicine, economics, engineering, computer science, etc. in different Chinese universities.
