Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On October 15th, 2009, 30 Vanuatu Government Officials started Human Resources training in China (or 援外人力资源培训项目). The training included 15 classes which, according to the press release from the Chinese Government ("我援外人力资源培训项目受到瓦努阿图政府的欢迎和好评") cover "inspection and quarantine [of foreign aid], tourism management, sports, health, trade and investment, and new energy." The course lasted from October 15 to November 4, 2009. Since 2005, more than 200 government officials and technical experts in Vanuatu have participated in China's foreign aid training programs. These training courses or seminars usually last 2-3 weeks and are generally held in Beijing, Shanghai or provincial capitals. The theme is set according to the specific requirements of Vanuatu, covering many areas such as macroeconomic development, investment promotion, public management, climate change, food safety, disaster early warning and rescue management, medical and health, and agricultural product production and processing. Human resources training is an important part of the Chinese government's assistance to Vanuatu.
