Project narrative

From 16 October to 31 October, 2014, the Chinese Embassy in DPRK organized the Sino-Korean Friendship Bright Action by providing two medical teams dispatched by the Jilin Province Health and Family Planning Commission (in Chinese: 吉林省卫生和计划生育委员会). The two teams operated from the People's Hospital in Ch'ŏllima Ward (천리마구역/千里馬區域), Nampo (남포특별시/南浦特別市), Pyeongnam Province (평안남도/平安南道). The two medical teams are conposed of ophthalmology and internal medicine experts from Jilin Provincial People’s Hospital and the Second Affiliated Hospital of Jilin University. They conducted medical examinations for nearly 300 North Korean patients and performed free cataract surgery for 132 of them with indications. The youngest patient was 16 years old and the oldest was 88.
