Description

In January 2018, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) and China Development Bank (CDB) for a framework agreement to establish financing cooperation. The agreement would be allocated for "[speeding] up the implementation of high impact infrastructure projects worth US$4.5B under the Build Build Build program,". One of these projects was the Bonifacio Global City (BGC)-Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project (or BGC-NAIA-Makati Bus Rapid Transit Project). Previously, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed for the conduct of a feasibility study for the Bonifacio Global City (BGC)-Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project (or BGC-NAIA-Makati Bus Rapid Transit Project). The MoU was signed between China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), the Philippine Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), and China Development Bank (CDB). The project cost was said to be PHP P44.03 billion. Under the MOU, "CDB and BCDA are expected to collaborate in the next 5 years, to determine the most cost-effective and efficient financing option for BCDA's projects in Clark and Metro Manila". According to "BUS RAPID TRANSIT SYSTEM FROM BGC TO NAIA TO BE FINISHED BY 2019," the project will cut travel time between BGC and NAIA to 15 minutes and is expected to be completed by 2019. The current status of the project is unknown. This project is linked to project ID#64749, the financing cooperation with the CDB that would fund this project, as well as the other project to be possibly funded under the agreement, project ID#64750, the New Clark City project.

Additional details

The MOU for the Bonifacio Global City (BGC)-Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project specifically was signed potentially as early as 2015, according to some sources. AidData records the commitment year as an uncertain 2018 because that was the year when the MOU for the financing of the project was signed.
