Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On February 20, 2006, the Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines, Li Jinjun, confirmed the donation of USD $750,000 worth of emergency material assistance for rehabilitation efforts in Southern Leyte. The donation was in response to the severe landslide that occurred in Southern Leyte on February 17, and was part of the USD $1 million donated by the Chinese government in response to this disaster. This donation makes up $750,000 of the $1 million USD donation, with the remaining amount coming from a grant of $250,000 (recorded in the linked Record ID#63886). The exact handover date of this material assistance is unknown, but as of March 2006 this project was thought to have been completed. The project is linked to the $250,000 grant (recorded in Record ID#63886), and the total USD $1.11 million of Chinese financing donated in response to this landslide (recorded in the umbrella Record ID#68627). The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) Financial Tracking Service captures the donation of $250,000 and $750,000 worth of supplies as one flow in the flow ID #34623.
