Description

According to a Laos Government report from September 2015, the Government of Laos planned to hold loan negotiations and sign a loan agreement in 2016-2018 with China Eximbank for the Mekong River Ports Projects in Xiengkok (Luang Namtha), Pakbeng (Oudomxay), and Luang Prabang. The total estimated project cost is $58.6 Million. It is unclear how much of the total project cost the government planned to cover with loan financing from China Eximbank. According to the government report of Laos from November 2016, Laos has completed the detailed design for 3 of Mekong River Ports projects (Xiengkok, Parkbeng and Luang Prabang), and already submitted the proposal document to China GOV for Funding ("PROGRESS REPORT OF SECTOR WORKING GROUPS" pdf p.54).

Additional details

It is difficult to find additional information as of November 2020, so it seems this project has not moved beyond the status of pledge.
