Project narrative

In December 2009, the Chinese government agreed to grant 22 million kina to Papua New Guinea for the Mt. Hagen Rice Project (captured in #69380). This project will be disbursed in five phases. In October 2015, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce granted K4 million in aid for the Fourth Phase of the Mt. Hagen Agriculture Technical Cooperation Project in Papua New Guinea. China's team is being led by Guan Shihuai and is composed of 7 agriculture experts. The project will provide technical advice and teach modern farming techniques for dry rice to local rice farmers at the Hagen Agricultural College in the Western Highlands Province. The project hopes to diversify local food crop production. K4,000,000 was dispensed in 2015. This project is linked to the other phases of the Mt. Hagen Rice Project (Phase 1 #39344, Phase 2 #39378, Phase 3 #39383, and Phase 4 (this project))
