Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On February 23, 2012, Chinese and Micronesian government officials signed a handover certificate in which China agreed to donate $50,000 USD of emergency assistance to help the Government of Micronesia control the dengue fever outbreak in Yap. The Micronesian legislature passed a resolution on March 29, 2012 approving of this grant. The outbreak in Yap began in late 2011 prompting to the state health department requesting international assistance. After the number of new cases had peaked in December 2011, China responded with this aid in early 2012.
