Project narrative

Based on the news release from the Embassy of China in Micronesia, on October 18, 2017, a handover ceremony was held for the Pohnpei-Port Moresby Air Route Subsidy for Air Niugini. Ambassador Li Jie and FSM Deputy Secretary of the DFA Samson Pretrick signed the donation hand over certificate (worth $800,000 USD). On October 31, 2017, a resolution to approve and accept a Chinese grant of $800,000 used to subsidize the newly launched airline between the FSM and Papua New Guinea was submitted to the 20th Congress of FSM. The resolution got approved on December 13, 2017. It is linked to Record ID#64182, an initial $800,000 for this project given in 2016.
