Description

In 2017, the Chinese Government and the Republic of Guinea signed a grant agreement for the Access to Satellite TV for 10,000 African Villages Project (Project #57618). The monetary value of this grant commitment is unknown. This project involved the provision and installation of 309 solar-powered digital televisions, 618 video projectors and 6,180 decoders in rural and remote villages in Guinea. Each village was to reportedly equipped with two video projectors, a 32-inch digital television, 20 decoders, 23 satellite dishes and three solar power systems for the projectors and the television. Upon completion, it was expected that 309 villages would benefit from more than 40 digital TV channels. This project officially commenced on January 18, 2018. StarTimes was the contractor responsible for implementation. Ultimately, 483 Guinean villages have reportedly benefited from this project.
