Project narrative

In 2013, at the request of former First Lady, Kirsty Sword Gusmao, the then Goodwill Ambassador for Education of Timor-Leste, the Chinese Embassy in Timor-Leste provided a grant for the Bekosi Primary School Expansion Project. The purpose of the project was to expand the Bekosi Primary School (Becussi Primary School) in the capital city of Dili by constructing additional 3 additional classrooms and 1 teacher's room. The expanded area of the school covered 315 square meters and was able to accommodate an additional 200 students on top of the current 300+ pupils. The opening ceremony for the expanded school was held on August 19, 2015. Chinese Ambassador, Liu Hongyang, was in attendance and gave a speech.
