Project narrative

On November 7, 2009, the Chinese government issued a $200,000 grant in emergency assistance for disaster relief to Laos. In September 2009, Typhoon Ketsana hit Laos' southern provinces. 19 people were killed and property losses in the storm-hit provinces were estimated at about $100 million. The grant was used in support of recovery and reconstruction in the stricken area.
