Description

On June 20th, 2019, Chinese Ambassador to Syria, Feng Biao, attended a handover ceremony for the Syrian bus project at the International Fairgrounds in Damascus, according to a report from the Chinese Embassy in Syria. At the ceremony, Ambassador Feng and Hussein Makhlouf, Syrian Local Management and Environment Minister, signed a handover certificate for 100 donated 44-seat buses intended for the Ministry of Local Management and Environment. The buses were to be distributed amongst the Syrian provinces to facilitate better public transportation throughout Syria. According to the Syria Times and Sputnik Arabic, in addition to the buses, the project provided 41 boxes of transportation accessories and equipment and five Chinese technicians who were to train Syrians in bus operation and maintenance. The exact monetary value of this donation is unknown.
