Based on the news release from the Embassy of China in Myanmar and Sinotf.com, on April 4, 2011, China National Petroleum Cooperation (CNPC) signed a letter of intent with Myanmar Energy Department of Ministry of Energy and Electricity about Cooperation in the Construction and Renovation of Local Hospitals in Myanmar. According to the letter of intent, PetroChina will provide Myanmar with US$6 million in funds on an as-needed basis. By introducing medical technology and equipment, training medical personnel, etc., CNPC will assist in the construction and reconstruction of the Kyaukpyu Hospital at the starting point of the China-Myanmar Oil and Gas Pipeline and the local hospitals along the pipeline.
