Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

In 2006, the Chinese Government provided demining training and equipment to 40 Jordanian and Lebanese personnel. The opening ceremony for the training was held on September 25, 2006. The training was held in Nanjing. The Chinese instructors were from the People’s Liberation Army University of Science and Technology and its Engineering College. The three-month study training provided the Jordanian and Lebanese personnel with the basic theories of the PLA's mine clearance, its equipment operation and use, and the organization, command, and implementation of humanitarian mine clearance operations. The Chinese government also provided demining equipment to Jordan and Lebanon. Graduation was held on December 20, 2006.

Staff comments

The Chinese project title is 黎巴嫩约旦扫雷技术培训班. AidData has assumed that the opening ceremony was held on September 25, 2006, because that is the day the speech given at the opening ceremony was posted online. This project may be related to training courses promised by China to the Jordanian Government earlier in 2006 (captured by Record ID#65310) because 20 Jordanians were trained, but the evidence is too shaky for AidData to consider them related. "Year uncertain" box was checked because it is not confirmed that the agreement to provide the training was made in 2006.
