Project narrative

On January 23, 2007, the Chinese government granted $2.5 million USD to Bolivia for execution of two major rural electrification projects in Nor Chichas province within the Potosi Department. On April 5, 2007, China Railway 17th Bureau Group was contracted to implement the projects, which consist of an extension of 15 kilometers of three-phase 24.9 kV power lines from the Toropalka-Takiniha power line and 33.32 km single-phase 14.4 kV line for the Wittur Qi rural electrification project. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on May 2, 2007 and the handover ceremony was held on June 11, 2008. The project is referred to as the Potosí Rural Electrification Project (or 援玻利维亚波多西省农村电气化项目).
