Description

On May 9, 2018, the University of Philadelphia's Confucius Institute held a grand opening ceremony for a Speech Lab at Philadelphia University in Amman funded by Hanban. Earlier in 2017, the Confucius Institute had applied for a grant to finance the Speech Lab's construction and equipment. Hanban approved the request and provided an unspecified amount of grant funding to proceed with the project. The Speech Lab became operational on October 30, 2018. The speech lab has an area of 100 square meters, 43 “teacher-student main units”, a master control unit, a multimedia projection and sound system, a simultaneous interpretation room, a UPS power supply, computers, systems controls, and interactive learning software. The speech lab was constructed by Radiant Computers and Electronics, Niberlung Labratory, Qarbash Bross Co., and Smart Cool EST. The facilities can administer Chinese language classes, teacher-student interaction, video conferencing, and online language testing.
