Description

On September 11th, 2017, a farewell ceremony was held in the Chinese Embassy of Samoa to launch a 10-day study tour organized for 10 Samoan youth to travel to Huizhou, China as part of a cultural exchange program. Three teachers and seven students from Samoa College went to Huizhou City in Guangdong Province and Hualuogeng Secondary School. The project was termed: "Discovering Huizhou - a Tour of Friendship between Chinese and Samoan Youngsters". This project was part of an MOU signed in 2015, "MOU Establishing a Sister-School Relationship between Huizhou Hualuogeng Secondary School and Samoa College". During the 10-day tour in China, teachers, and students from Samoa College participated in a variety of activities including attending math, music and culture classes, paper-cutting, painting, mini fun games and music, and song performances with their Chinese peers. They were also invited to spend time in Chinese students' families. A TV documentary that followed this project was aired on major Samoan TV stations on December 12th-18th, 2017.
