Project narrative

In 2016, the Chinese Government and the Government of Azerbaijan signed a grant agreement for the provision of 20,000 laptops, interactive whiteboards, projectors, printers, and other electronic equipment for educational purposes. China International Center for Economic and Technical Exchanges (CICETE) was the source of grant funding and it reportedly committed $11 million in total. The equipment was primarily earmarked for use at the Baku 23rd Middle School (23 saylı tam orta məktəb) in the city of Baku and Azerbaijan National Agricultural University (Azərbaycan Dövlət Aqrar Universiteti) in the district of Ganja. An opening ceremony for the electronic classroom at the Azerbaijan National Agricultural University was held on September 15, 2017. The equipment, according to the Azerbaijan Ministry of Education, was formally handed over on September 19, 2017.
