Description
According to both MOFCOM Investment Guide 2017 and Investment Guide 2018, in 2012 China sent 90 medical aid members to 7 different hospitals in 7 governorates of Yemen. This is in accordance with a new bilateral agreement signed between China and Yemen in 2012 after China's medical team temporarily evacuated in 2011 because of the emergency situation in Yemen. According to MOFCOM Investment Guide 2017 and 2018 and a MOFCOM article, an 8th Medical Team China (第8支医疗分队) was sent to Yemen on Decmeber 8, 2014. This most likely means the 8th medical team sent to China since the return of Chinese medical teams to Yemen in accordance with the 2012 bilateral agreement. This medical team had 14 people who were sent to the new China-Yemen Friendship Hospital. According to other MOFCOM sources, a 35-person batch of medical team members were sent to Yemen on March 28, 2013, and this batch comprises 3 "teams" (三支医疗分队). The first batch returned on September 9, 2012 and consisted of 29 team members. China began to organize and send medical teams to Yemen in 1966 and has dispatched more than 3,500 people in total.
