Project narrative

On Dec 27th, 2010, the project development agreement was signed for China Datang International Power Generation Co., Ltd. investment in Pakbeng (Mekong) Hydropower Project in Laos. According to "2015 Government of Laos Bond Prospectus", China Datang International Power Generation Co., Ltd. will have a share of 81% and EDL 19%. The construction of the hydro-electric power plant will start in 2022 and is expected to be completed by 2029. The location of this project is in Oudomxay/Xayaboury. The Pak Beng Hydropower Project consists of 16 bulb turbines of 57 megawatts (MW), totalling an installed capacity of 912 MW. The annual average energy production is 4,765 gigawatt per hour (GWh).
