Description

On December 17, 2015, the Chinese Government officially delivered $5 million worth of agricultural machinery — including rice machines, tractors, and bulldozers — to the Government of Fiji. This donation provided supplemental support for Phase 1 of the Rice Revitalization Project (captured via Project ID#49129). The Chinese Government also sent mechanical experts to train Fijians on the use and maintenance of the machinery. The purpose of Phase 1 of the Rice Revitalization Project was to increase rice production in the Dreketi irrigated areas within Muanicula province on the island of Vanua Levu. It also supported the Koronivia Rice Research Center (also known as Koronivia Research Station) in Nasinu.
