Description

According to the Government of Côte d'Ivoire’s Aid Management Platform (AMP), China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) and the Government of Côte d'Ivoire signed an RMB 37 million (CFA 7 billion) of grant funding for the Anyama High School Rehabilitation Project on March 1, 2012. Then, on May 9, 2012 and July 12, 2012, the Chinese Ambassador to Côte d'Ivoire and the Ivorian Minister of Foreign Affairs signed an exchange of letters for the Anyama High School Rehabilitation Project. China’s Ministry of Commerce was the source of funding. This project involved the rehabilitation of a school in the sub-prefecture of Anyama that was previously constructed with financial support from the Chinese Government (see Project ID#66065). It had two components: a maintenance component and a new construction component. The maintenance component involved repairing the damaged roofs of existing classrooms, replacing damaged doors and windows, indoor lamps, air conditioners, basketball courts, and water fountains. The construction component involved the construction of 23 classrooms, 11 teacher offices, a conference room, a library, a teacher's cafeteria, and a sports field. It also involved the provision of furniture and teaching equipment. Jiangsu Construction Engineering signed a construction contract on October 5, 2013. MOFCOM then made a CFA 157,000,000 grant disbursement on December 31, 2013. The project was officially handed over to the Ivorian authorities on September 15, 2015. Upon completion, the school had the capacity to accommodate 900 students. It was officially renamed Alassane Ouattara Modern High School of Anyama (Lycée Moderne Alassane Ouattara d'Anyama).
