Chinese Government provides RMB 25 million grant for provision of 50 ambulances

Project narrative

On September 14, 2016, the Chinese Government and the Government of Ukraine signed an MOU regarding a grant for the acquisition of 50 ambulances. Then, on October 21, 2016, the two governments signed letters of exchange, which formally committed RMB 25 million of grant funding for this purpose. This project was funded with the grant proceeds from an Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement (ETCA) that the two governments signed on September 2, 2010. China Meheco Co., Ltd. was the contractor responsible for providing the ambulances and training Ukrainian specialists on their use. The ambulances were to be used across all 24 oblasts in Ukraine in order to improve nationwide medical care and emergency response. As of July 5, 2018, all 50 ambulances had been delivered to Ukraine’s Ministry of Health and Ministry of Internal Affairs. On September 24, 2018, an official ambulance handover ceremony took place.
