Project narrative

On October 14, 2016, officials from Tianjin University of Technology and Education came to the University of Banja Luka and signed the agreement to establish a Confucius Institute. In November 2017, the project is officially approved by Hanban. The Chinese Ministry of Education, Hanban, granted the University of Banja Luka funds to open the second Confucius Institute in Bosnia-Herzgovina. The University has discussed using the Institute to support the Chinese language as an elective subject at the Faculty of Philology of the University of Banja Luka. The Institute was launched on January 21, 2018 and provides Chinese language and culture education free of charge. The launch ceremony was attended by the President of the Republic of Srpska and faculty from the University.
